Guardians of the Galaxy Will Appear In Thor: Love and Thunder

It’s official: the Guardians of the Galaxy will make a guest appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder!

This update comes from the mouth of Vin Diesel a.k.a Groot himself, who broke the news to Comicbook.com while promoting his upcoming movie Bloodshot. Despite still having to keep his cards close to his hand, Diesel didn’t deny the fact that the Guardians will join forces with Thor Odinson in the next phase of his journey.

“I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park,” said a jubilant Diesel. “He took The Suicide Squad so he’s about to embark on it. Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” As Diesel himself points out, this is the first time such news has been confirmed. “That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

To provide some context in Diesel’s interview, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was supposed to premiere before Thor: Love and Thunder. But due to some complications and director James Gunn juggling his Suicide Squad duties, Guardians 3 had to be pushed back. Additionally, fans will naturally be curious about how Thor and the Guardians will hold up given how they embarked on the Milano together at the end of Avengers: Endgame. As such, their appearance in Love and Thunder only makes sense.

With that said, Thor: Love and Thunder is shaping up to be quite the spectacle at the tail end of Marvel Phase 4, with the likes of Christian Bale joining as a villain (possibly Adam Warlock?) and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster becoming worthy of Mjolnir at some point during the movie. Oh, and not forgetting Taika Waititi returning as fan-favourite Korg.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theatres on 5 November 2021.
