Neve Campbell Books Sidney Prescott Return To ‘Scream 8’

A peaceful life remains out of reach for Sidney Prescott. After decades of Ghostface run-ins, the ultimate final girl still isn’t free of the, well, screams, as Neve Campbell has confirmed her character’s return in Scream 8, previously announced to be in the works with writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.

Speaking to Associated Press about her role in the Netflix series Black Doves, the franchise veteran listed the sequel among her upcoming projects, which is “in the pipeline as well”. “You know I can’t tell you anything about Scream 8,” she laughed, “I’ll be in it.”

Barring 2023’s Scream VI, citing a contract dispute, Campbell has starred as Sidney in every main instalment of the franchise, including this year’s Scream 7 – now the highest-grossing entry with a global gross of US$200 million, the first milestone in its 30-year run. Directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote and produced the early films in the series, it follows the scream queen as her daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), is targeted by a new Ghostface killer.

It also boasts a returning cast of Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown as siblings Chad and Mindy, alongside Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger, who was Scream 3‘s Ghostface.

Details for the eightquel, including a release date and confirmed cast list, have been scarce. No director has been attached, but Williamson may not return to the director’s chair, explaining that he will “probably step back [from the next Scream] and just be a part of the family again.”
