Academy award-winning director Taika Waititi is an incredibly busy man. Not only is he set to direct Thor: Love and Thunder later this year, but he is also currently still busy working on the football-centric comedy Next Goal Wins.
With such a busy schedule, it is little surprise for Marvel to provide Waititi a co-writer to help support him for Thor: Love and Thunder.
According to Variety, Marvel has struck a deal with Someone Great writer and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson to work on the script for Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Taika Waititi prior to the film’s production later this year.
The Marvel film will be the most high profile project that Robinson has worked on thus far, having created the MTV show Sweet/Vicious and the Netflix original romantic drama-comedy Someone Great.
Thor: Love and Thunder was officially announced at Comic Con International 2019 and it will mark the first time that a Marvel superhero is starring in a solo film for the fourth time. Little else is known about the project but we do know that Chris Hemsworth will be back at the God of Thunder Thor, with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster taking up the mantle of Lady Thor. Fan-favourite Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) will also be making a return.
There have been reports of actor Christian Bale being in talks with the studio to join the film as a villain though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Production for Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to begin around August 2020, while the premiere is still on schedule to be on.
