There’s no better way to end things off than with a bang, and that’s what Daredevil: Born Again is counting on. With Season 3 officially confirmed to wrap the titular superhero’s story and showrunner Dario Scardapane’s departure from the series, the show will reunite the Defenders for one last hurrah.

It’s not exactly news, since leaked set photos gave the surprise away a few months ago, but it’s still nice to have confirmation, especially with stars Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), and Finn Jones (Danny Rand / Iron Fist) coming together to reveal the first teaser for the upcoming outing at this year’s New York Comic-Con (NYCC).
Per Entertainment Weekly, the clip shows the trio getting their official police badges before Jessica says, “Well, is no one going to say it? There should be four badges.”
The fourth member in question is, of course, Luke Cage, portrayed once again by event absentee Mike Colter. The character made his grand debut in the season-two finale and was revealed to have a child with Jessica named Danielle, after the superhero-turned-private-investigator helped Matt take down Kingpin.
The quartet’s on-screen history dates back to the days before Disney+, when all four had their own solo outings on Netflix. After crossing over to each other’s series, they joined forces for The Defenders miniseries in 2017, with Daredevil itself running for three seasons before getting cancelled. The streamer then revived it under the Daredevil: Born Again title, only to call off Season 3 during post-production, suggesting low ratings.

“I imagine the ‘Save Daredevil’ campaign will be gearing up for round two,” said Cox to cheers from the crowd. “You don’t want to invite the wrath of the Save Daredevil people.”
No premiere date has been set for Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, but it’s expected to debut in 2027. Alongside the sneak peek, Marvel Studios also unveiled the spy-thriller series Zodiac for 2028, three new Marvel Zombies animated specials, a fresh look at VisionQuest, and more at NYCC.
