Thank Odin! Korg Makes Glorious Return To Thor: Love & Thunder

With Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi lending his voice to the loveable Kronan alien Korg in the movie, it was only a matter of time before the surprise fan favourite makes a glorious return to the series. True to expectations, the world of Thor will indeed be bringing back Korg, who is set for a welcome comeback in Thor: Love and Thunder.

The announcement came during Waititi’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he promoted his stint as an imaginary Hitler in Jojo Rabbit. Upon the tail-end of the conversation, the New Zealander chipped in with a “My character is coming back, Korg,” which received an enthusiastic bout of cheers from the audience. “Thank you. Thank you so much for that reaction,” he later expressed in his Korg voice.

And while Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled for release on November 5, 2021, it’s never too early for Waititi to start on the drafting process.

“I just finished a couple of drafts of that story”, he told Kimmel. “There’s more Thor…there’s twice the Thor.” He means it in every sense of the word, too – joining Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder is Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who will also pick up the hammer as Thor (based on the comic series The Mighty Thor). Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson is set to assume her role as Valkyrie once again.

Waititi’s commitment to Thor: Love and Thunder, unfortunately, also means his live-action adaptation of classic anime Akira has now taken a backseat, but just like how Korg will strike a glorious return to the series, the latter will mark a glorious return to the big screen as well – in due time.
