Netflix’s Spiderhead has landed a killer cast with Chris Hemsworth in the lead role and Lovecraft Country‘s Jurnee Smollett to join alongside the Thor actor (via Deadline). The two will also be teaming up with Miles Teller (Divergent, Fantastic Four).
Set in the future, Spiderhead focuses on two prisoners who become guinea pigs to medical experiments in hopes of shortening their sentences. Induced with emotion-altering drugs, the prisoners are forced to grapple with their pasts in a facility run by a visionary health care provider that oversees the program.
The Netflix film is an adaptation of George Saunders’ short story Escape from Spiderhead and will be directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski.
Spiderhead is Hemsworth’s second Netflix film following Extraction. On the other hand, Smollett has been appearing in both big and small screens portraying Black Canary in Birds Of Prey and HBO’s Lovecraft Country.
