Jennifer Garner Returning As Elektra In ‘Deadpool 3’

Jennifer Garner will be picking up sais and squeezing into a tight corset once again.

After nearly 20 years, the actress is returning to the role of Elektra in Deadpool 3. Garner first played the sai-wielding assassin in 20th Century Fox’s Daredevil (2003). The movie starred Garner’s now ex-husband Ben Affleck as the Man Without Fear and spawned an Elektra solo movie two years later with Garner in the lead role. Both movies were not box office successes but it’s worth noting that Garner was one of the few women to lead a comic book movie at the time.

Garner is the latest actor attached to appear in the Ryan Reynolds-led franchise. Hugh Jackman, who famously played Wolverine in the X-Men movies, is reprising his role in the third Deadpool movie too.

Also returning to the Deadpool franchise are Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna as couple Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus.

Deadpool 3 will also mark Succession actor Matthew Macfadyen and The Crown actress Emma Corrin Marvel debuts.

Director Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Reynolds on Free Guy, will be helming Deadpool 3. Reynolds, Levy and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will serve as producers.

Deadpool 3 is the first movie in the franchise to be made under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) banner. It is rumoured to deal with concepts of the multiverse. While there has been no confirmation from Levy or Marvel, it is a close possibility given how characters debuted under the Fox banner such as Elektra and Wolverine will be appearing in the movie. And don’t worry, the movie will retain its R-rating.

The movie’s synopsis currently reads:

“Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.”

Deadpool 3 premieres on 8 November 2024.
