Apple Launches M6 MacBook Pro & iMac Lineup, Touts Faster On-Device AI

Apple is continuing its streak of product announcements, this time unveiling its newest MacBook Pro and iMac lineup, which are powered by the latest M6 silicon chip.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro, now powered by the M6 chip, takes portable performance to the next level with its 12-core CPU, boasting two more cores than previous iterations and offering faster single- and multithreaded performance. This allows for more seamless multitasking and better handling of creative workflows and, coupled with its 12-core GPU, Dual 16-core Neural Engine, and faster unified memory, delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics performance compared to the M5, meaning everything from gaming to photo editing and 3D modelling feels faster than before.

Thanks to the hardware upgrade, on-device AI workloads have also seen a boost in performance, with the M6 MacBook Pro’s Neural Engine working together with its GPU to deliver accelerated performance for image generation, Super Resolution, and AI upscaling, alongside providing more energy-efficient AI processing with Apple Intelligence.

Outside of performance boosts, the M6 MacBook Pro also features an upgraded battery, offering up to 14 more hours of battery life on a single charge, alongside support for fast charging to reduce downtime, reaching up to 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes when paired with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C power adapter. Connectivity has also seen an improvement, as the device now supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Apple’s desktop lineup has also seen a powerful newcomer in the form of the new M6-powered iMac, delivering a noticeable performance boost to its all-in-one workstation. Like the MacBook Pro, the new iMac receives the same performance thanks to the M6 chip, including a two-core upgrade to both its CPU and GPU, alongside boosted on-device AI.

With these upgrades, the M6 iMac offers up to 2.5 times faster app performance, up to 3.3 times faster graphics performance, up to 12 times faster on-device AI performance, and up to 2 times higher gaming performance with ray tracing compared to previous-generation chips.

With the new macOS 27, both devices are also powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence, bringing with it Siri AI, the newest version of Apple’s assistant, which offers more capable, conversational, and personal AI-powered assistance. Users can ask Siri AI questions and easily pull information across their messages, emails, photos, or use Visual Intelligence to find out more about anything currently displayed on their screen.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at S$2,699, while the iMac with M6 starts at S$2,099 (for its 10-core variant). Both devices will begin pre-orders on 29 October ahead of their launch on 6 November 2026.
