Ryan Reynolds Says Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Return In ‘Deadpool 3’ Is “Something Completely New”

Hugh Jackman‘s return to Wolverine is a big deal. The X-Men star was adamant that 2017’s Logan will be he last time playing the character so when it was announced that he would return for Deadpool 3 – fans wondered, “How?”.

According to Deadpool 3 producer and star Ryan Reynolds, all he had to do is pitch a “completely new” version of Wolverine that Jackman has never done before.

“It’s been fun,” Reynolds said of Deadpool 3 to ET Canada. “He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think actually weirdly, the perfect time… I never stopped (trying to recruit Jackman). I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet, timing is a big one as well, and I think he was ready.”

Reynolds continued, “I think he was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

Reynolds didn’t share how different Wolverine will be in the upcoming movie but we do know that his Merc with a Mouth and the popular X-Men character hate each other. We also know that the movie will remain true to its violent and gritty nature.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on 8 November 2024.
