‘Deadpool 3’ Casts ‘Succession’ Actor Matthew Macfadyen

After surviving almost four seasons of the Roy family, the evil forces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) should hardly be a threat for Matthew Macfadyen. Deadline reports that the Succession star has been cast in Deadpool 3, which will also revive Hugh Jackman’s beloved X-Men character Wolverine.

Details about the actor’s character are unknown, but it’s likely to be the supposed third wheel to Deadpool and Wolverine, a role that the feature was looking to fill. Macfadyen’s addition comes after Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown, joined the project as a potential villain.

Deadpool 3 marks the first film in the franchise to be parked under the MCU banner, with Ryan Reynolds set to reprise his role as the Merc with the Mouth. The first two movies were made at 20th Century Fox, but Disney’s acquisition of the company means the threequel has now become part of the MCU. Despite the change, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have assured fans that the upcoming movie will be as R-rated as it gets. Shawn Levy is also returning to direct the project.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for theatrical release on 8 November 2024, while Succession is in its final stretch of episodes. In HBO’s Emmy-winning series, Macfadyen plays the celebrated role of Shiv Roy’s husband Tom, joining the likes of Nicole Kidman and Gael García Bernal.
