Netflix Offers Full Scholarships At Tokyo’s WIT Animator Academy For Aspiring Animators With All Expenses Paid

Anime has become a big content arm of Netflix’s. Starting out humbly with a library of Studio Ghibli films, Netflix now carries popular anime titles like Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Haikyu to name a new.

Today, the platform doesn’t just want to be known for creating animes of their own but rather would like to be known to create animators too. To support the anime industry, Netflix is offering full scholarships to Tokyo’s WIT Animator Academy for aspiring animators. And it’s all-expenses-paid too.

The six-month program by WIT Studio will run from April to September this year and students will be retained as subcontracted animators for a Netflix original anime upon completion. Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old and must graduate from high school no later than March 2021. While Japanese residency is required, foreign residents of Japan are welcomed to apply.

Netflix will only be accepting 10 applicants under their all-expenses-paid scholarship and interested parties can apply online starting 28 February. Applicants need not be fluent in Japanese but basic understanding and conversational abilities are expected.

Applicants will have to go through exams and interviews before the final selection of successful candidates takes place in March.
