Mark your calendars; WandaVision finally gets a release date of 15 January 2021 on Disney+.
This announcement was made earlier this week, on the first anniversary of Disney+’s launch, ahead of Disney’s fourth quarterly earnings call (via The Verge). The show, which stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, was initially projected to release in December 2020, but was somehow moved to a 2021 premiere.
Interestingly, WandaVision was supposed to be only the second Marvel Studios show to premiere on Disney+, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier due to release in August this year. However, delays in production meant that the latter’s release would be pushed back to 2021.
This, then, makes WandaVision the first Marvel Studios TV series on the streamer.
2021 is looking to be a massive year for Marvel Studios fans. Aside from WandaVision and, inevitaby, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the feature film category is looking particularly packed. With the likes of Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and The Eternals all heading to theatres then, there’s certainly plenty to look forward to post-2020.
