“Bringing down this club may be easier than I thought,” says Jane Lynch’s character, Sue Sylvester, in Glee, but she’d be wrong. Disney+ and Hulu have announced a reboot of Ryan Murphy’s famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) musical dramedy series, with Lea Michele reportedly set to reprise her role as Rachel Berry.

The specifics of the character’s return remain unclear, since next to nothing is known about the project. While there’s no official confirmation from the actor or the studios yet, Variety writes that multiple sources have verified the casting, including one who stated, “She’s in.” Another added, “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good, and we’re happy to get the band back together.”
Alongside Michele, Heather Morris, who plays Brittany Pierce, and Chord Overstreet (Sam Evans) have taken to social media to tease a potential reunion. 20th Television is producing the Glee reboot, and there’s no word on whether creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan will be back on board. Other members of the original cast include Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum Jr., Mark Salling and more.
Michele starred in all six seasons of the series, which ran from 2009 to 2015 and follows the titular glee club, New Directions, as they compete in the show choir circuit and navigate social issues regarding sexuality, gender, race, family, relationships, and teamwork. Rachel first appeared in the pilot episode, and despite alienation from her peers due to her ambition and her precocious, arrogant and mega-talented personality, she privately struggled with her reputation and personal relationships.

The singer-songwriter was nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globes for her work on Glee, which was also known for its covers of popular songs such as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Teenage Dream,” “River Deep, Mountain High,” “Smooth Criminal,” and more.
