Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ Eyes Pedro Pascal As Reed Richards

Marvel Studios might have found their Reed Richards for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

As reported by Deadline, Pedro Pascal is rumoured to be in talks for the role. Pascal, known for his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, is a top contender for the part, previously played by John Krasinski in a brief appearance during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Krasinski’s cameo came about due to fan demand but didn’t lead to a longer stint in the MCU.

The Fantastic Four reboot, set to begin filming in 2024, is directed by Matt Shakman, renowned for WandaVision. Pascal’s involvement is not yet confirmed, but sources suggest negotiations are progressing well. If cast, Pascal would succeed Ioan Gruffudd, Miles Teller, and John Krasinski, becoming the latest actor to portray the iconic Marvel character.

Aside from the potential role in Fantastic Four, Pascal remains (seemingly) stretched thin with other significant projects. He’s set to appear in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, with filming expected to begin soon. Fans can also look forward to seeing him in HBO’s The Last Of Us season 2, with production slated to start next year.

Marvel’s choice of Pascal reflects the studio’s pattern of recruiting top-tier talent for key roles, and his diverse portfolio in popular franchises like Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian underscores his appeal.

With Matt Shakman directing and Josh Friedman writing, the Fantastic Four reboot is part of Marvel’s Phase 5. Details about the movie’s plot and how it integrates into the larger MCU narrative are still scarce. However, Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating how the studio will handle this iconic team’s return to the big screen, particularly after the multiverse’s introduction.

The casting for Susan Storm, Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm, (The Thing) have yet to be announced as well.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on 2 May 2025.
