Warner Bros. Games and Rocksteady have launched a new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video series, Suicide Squad Insider. The first episode delves into the game’s main storyline, the Squad’s unique traversal mechanics, and provides a tantalising glimpse into the expansive world of Metropolis.
Described as a “genre-bending action-adventure shooter” set in the open-world backdrop of Metropolis, Suicide Squad follows Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark on a mission to save Earth by taking down the world’s greatest DC Super Heroes, the Justice League.
Simultaneously launching the new video series, Warner has unveiled two editions of the game available for pre-order, the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition. Both versions include four Classic Outfits (one for each Squad member), and the PlayStation 5 digital pre-order bonus adds an additional four Rogue Outfits.
The Deluxe Edition adds four Justice League Outfits, three Black Mask-themed notorious weapons (pistol, sniper rifle, and heavy weapon), four Squad Golds-themed weapon dolls, one premium battle pass token, four No Shade Outfit color swatches (only available on the digital versions), and up to 72-hour early access to the game, ahead of the main launch. The Standard Edition is priced at US$69.99 while the Deluxe Edition comes with a US$99.99 price tag.
Fans initially expressed concerns about live service elements and mandatory online play in single-player mode. Despite the criticism, the game promises a battle pass solely featuring cosmetic items and robust post-launch support with new characters and missions. Players can experience the game solo or join up to four-player online co-op with full cross-platform and cross-progression support.
Originally slated for a 2022 release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was rescheduled for spring 2023. Following another delay, it’s now set to launch on 2 February 2024. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be coming to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
