While the release of the second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ may still be a few months away, it’s understandable to be concerned about whether the upcoming season could be delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, an update by series creator and executive producer Jon Favreau suggests that it could still release in October 2020.
In a recent virtual panel on the ATX Television Festival (via THR), Favreau reiterated that Season 2 “finished photography before the lockdown”, and has been able to carry on with post-production “remotely” thanks to the tech provided by Lucasfilm and ILM.
Though he didn’t explicitly state it, Favreau’s comments all but confirm that Season 2 of The Mandalorian is still on track for its intended release timeline.
Season 2 is set to bring a ton of star power to the already star-studded series, with the likes of Temuera Morrison returning as Boba Fett, Rosario Dawson appearing as Ahsoka Tano, Michael Biehn as an unnamed bounty hunter, and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze.
Meanwhile, Favreau is currently hard at work on writing Season 3 alongside the art department.
