Nick Fury Series Starring Samuel L. Jackson Coming To Disney Plus

The elusive director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has acted as a bridge between countless Marvel movies; weaving plots together by introducing new characters or handing out team missions. Despite that, Nick Fury has yet to land a leading role in any Marvel film. This is about to change as Samuel L. Jackson is reportedly starring in an upcoming Fury centric Disney+ series.

Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role as the leader of the super-spy agency. While they remain hush about the plot details, Kyle Bradstreet (Mr Robot) is said to be serving as the writer and executive producer for the show (via Variety).

S.H.I.E.L.D.’s unyielding leader appears in the MCU right from the beginning, starting from the post-credits scene in 2008’s Iron Man. He has even appeared on the small screen in two episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The last we saw of Nick Fury, he was (spoiler alert) “vacationing” on a Skrull ship in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Samuel L. Jackson is perhaps one of the most iconic faces on the big screens, having starred in countless classics such as Unbreakable, A Time to Kill and the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The prolific actor is also known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino films such as Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained. Thus, it’s no surprise that artist Bryan Hitch decided to model the character after Jackson when Fury was reimagined as a Black man in Marvel’s Ultimate Universe.

Nick Fury’s solo series will be joining a long list of Marvel shows on Disney+. These include the upcomingWandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier (delayed until 2021), and Loki. The studios also announced series such as Hawkeye (starring Jeremy Renner), Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk (starring Tatiana Maslany), and Moon Knight and, an animated What If…? series.
