American Breaks Guinness World Record With Over 5,000 Funko Pops In Collection

It’s no secret that collecting Funko Pops is an addictive hobby. The iconic 3.75-inch tall vinyl figures representing your favourite pop culture icons are one of the best ways to celebrate your love for them, and for good reason. So just how far would you go with your collection?

For Paul Scardino, it can go to as far as over 5,000. The American recently broke the official Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Funko Pop figurines, with approximately 5,306 different figurines stored in his home in Virginia.

Scardino, who works in a mental health clinic, first started his collection in 2017, when he “received a two-pack” of Funko versions of Hawkeye and Spider-Man from the Captain America: Civil War movie for his birthday.

Scardino never looked back since being bitten by the Funko Pop bug, scouring the Internet for every vinyl figurine he could lay his hands on. And three years later, he will be part of the Guinness World Records 2021 book as the ultimate homage to his geekdom.

“I received an email from Guinness World Records in the morning while at home, and I held off reading it until my wife was able to see it,” said Scardino in the Guinness World Records blog. “As I read the email out loud, I felt intense elation and satisfaction, as the months long effort had paid off, and I would officially be a record holder.”

“I was super excited to hear from Guinness World Records that I was chosen to be in the 2021 Edition.”

Now that we’ve witnessed just how a Funko Pop collection could look like with over 5,000 figures, it’s only a matter of time before we see a home built entirely out of Funko Pop figurines.
