Margot Robbie To Lead New Female-Centric Pirates of the Caribbean Movie

A new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is reportedly in the works with Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie and screenwriter Christina Hodson teaming up once again for the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film will be a more female-fronted film, with Robbie attached to star as the lead. Though plot details are still kept under wraps, the film “is not intended to be a spinoff of the long-running franchise that had pirate Jack Sparrow at its centre but rather a wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker.”

Rumours of a new Pirates film had surfaced earlier in May, with rumours of Guardians of the Galaxy’s Karen Gillan being eyed for the lead role.

This new Pirates film is also separate from the reboot that is being developed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and franchise co-creator Ted Elliot.

Though many might not recognise Hodson’s name, we’re sure you will recognise some of her works which includes the likes of Bumblebee, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and even James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad
