Kungfu Punk Game ‘Phantom Blade Zero’ Sells 4M Copies In 3 Days, Tops Steam Chart

Following the immense success of Game Science’s 2024 hit Black Myth: Wukong, S-Game is once again proving the prowess of Chinese game developers with the release of Phantom Blade Zero, its wuxia action game that has now sold over four million copies within 72 hours.

The studio took to the game’s social media pages to break the news, with the achievement marking an even bigger milestone, considering the title is the studio’s first-ever big-budget game release.

While individual sales figures per platform were not revealed, its performance on Steam should be enough to prove just how popular Phantom Blade Zero is. At the time of writing, the game currently sits at a peak of 833,921 concurrent players and has a “Very Positive” rating, with 89 percent of its 5,104 total user reviews being positive.

On launch, the game also rose to the top of Steam’s charts, beating out big hitters like Dota 2 and PUBG for a second-place finish, only behind Counter-Strike 2. The game has also topped Steam’s global Top Selling list, even managing to outsell other major releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Phantom Blade Zero might be a massive hit, but it still doesn’t quite reach the highs of Black Myth: Wukong, which sold a staggering 10 million copies in the same timeframe. At the rate it is going, however, it won’t be surprising if S-Game’s title can still manage to hit that same 10 million milestone, just within a larger time window.

Featuring its own unique “KungFu Punk” style, Phantom Blade Zero is an action-adventure game focused on flashy combos and fluid melee combat. Players take on the role of Soul, an ex-warrior of the Order who is given only 66 days to live unless he can find a new heart. Actor and director Donnie Yen also appears in the game as key character Mó Yuan, while also serving as the game’s key creative consultant. The game is now available on the PS5 and PC.
