Step aside, Game of Thrones — HBO has a new poster, er, show now, and its name is Chernobyl.
The five-episode miniseries has been making waves across the internet community with its true-to-life reenactment of the tragic 1986 Chernobyl disaster in Russia.
Because of how graphic and historically-accurate it was, along with stellar performances by the likes of Jared Harris (The Crown), Stellan Skarsgård (Dune, Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Jessie Buckley (The Tempest), Chernobyl earned the top spot for TV series on IMDb.
Despite not having won any accolades yet, since it was released just a few weeks ago, Chernobyl has been regarded quite highly by the Internet community.
And the memes have been nothing but amazing.
Game of Thrones Season 8 might have its scope and spectacle and dragons, and Chernobyl’s has not come short from what we’ve come to expect from HBO. Yes, we actually managed to get proper aftermath scenes of a city-leveling disaster in this one.
Catch all five episodes of HBO’s Chernobyl on the HBO GO app, or on the HBO Channel of Singapore’s various TV networks such as StarHub, Singtel and Toggle.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
