Disney has been on a roll with their live-action remakes. From favourites like Aladdin and The Lion King being huge successes in the box office, fans can now add Bambi and Pinocchio to the list of upcoming live-action remakes next to Mulan and Lilo and Stitch.
The 1942 Bambi film by Disney will follow the likes of The Lion King and The Jungle Book where the little fawn will be digitally created and will roam a photorealistic forest (via Deadline). The live-action adaptation of this tearjerker classic will also see the return of other beloved characters such as Thumper and Flower.
No director has been assigned to the new adaptation of Bambi, but Geneva Roberson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess is a Loser) are set to pen the script.
As for the cultural icon in children’s literature, Pinocchio will take on similarities of Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin, where it would be a hybrid of real-world sets and live-action performances that will interact with digitally invented characters.
Director Robert Zemeckis will be bringing the puppet to life, Andrew Miano (The Farewell) and Chris Weitz (Cinderella, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) are set to produce with Weitz, Paul King (Paddington, Paddington 2) and Simon Farnaby to write the script.
