Studio Naughty Dog might be done with Uncharted, but the big screen isn’t, as Sony confirmed a sequel movie was in development at the CineEurope trade show. Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) will return to star in the film, but no further details were revealed.
Actor Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: Age of Extinction), who plays Victor “Sully” Sulivan revealed the existence of early drafts of an Uncharted 2 script in 2023, saying that “somebody’s written a script, and they’re still working on it.” Producer Charles Roven was also enthusiastic about making a sequel, saying that he was “definitely looking” to make another Uncharted live-action feature.
The Uncharted game franchise currently has four mainline games developed by studio Naughty Dog, and two prequel games by Bend Studio. The games follow treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he ventures across the globe in search of fortune, making allies and rivals along the way. Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake in the films.
There might not be another Uncharted game for the foreseeable future, but the franchise’s legacy is still going strong with its live-action film adaptation.
