Come on Simu, let’s go party! The Shang-Chi star is in talks to join Warner Bros.’ upcoming live-action Barbie movie.
Simu Liu will join Birds of Prey‘s Margot Robbie, La La Land‘s Ryan Gosling and Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera in the live-action film. Robbie is playing Barbie, whereas Gosling is playing her boy toy Ken. Liu’s and Ferrera’s roles are still undisclosed.
Liu is best known as Marvel superhero Shang-Chi. The movie became one of the highest-grossing films of the pandemic and has a sequel in tow with director Destin Daniel Cretton.
Greta Gerwig is directing the Barbie movie. Production is expected to start in early 2022, with the movie slated to hit theatres in 2023. Plot details have been kept under wraps.
