We’ve got a new Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a new title for the upcoming sequel too.
The fourth Captain America movie has now been renamed to Captain America: Brave New World. The movie was initially titled New World Order before Marvel’s announcement on Tuesday.

Accompanying the new title is a behind the scenes photo of Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie. Mackie will be making his big screen debut as the superhero in Brave New World. His character Sam Wilson was previously known as Falcon before Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers passed the shield and moniker over to him after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
The Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw Sam contemplating whether he was willing to take over the role while working alongside Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). The series also debuted Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent. Both Winter Soldier and U.S. Agent are expected to appear in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.
Captain America: Brave New World is co-written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Malcolm Spellman and Julius Onah. Onah is set to direct. The movie will star Mackie, Tim Blake as Samuel Sterns and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. Ford will be making his MCU debut as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross following the death of actor William Hurt.
Shira Haas and Danny Ramirez also star, with Carl Lumbly returning as his Falcon and the Winter Soldier character Isaiah Bradley.
Captain America: Brave New World is on track to release on 3 May 2024.
