Ryan Reynolds Teases Meeting With Marvel Studios For Possibly A Third Deadpool Movie

With Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox earlier this year, many were left wondering about the fate of everyone’s favourite R-rated Merc With a Mouth Deadpool and how he will fit into the family-friendly Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though thankfully it seems that plans are underway to bring Deadpool into the MCU. Ryan Reynolds recently took to Twitter to share a photo of him at Marvel Studios, joking about how he went to audition for the role of Tony Stark, only to end up being escorted out of the building.

Paul Wernick, writer for Deadpool, shared that he hopes Marvel will allow for Deadpool to remain in his R-rated universe and “hopefully over time, we get to play a little bit in the MCU sandbox as well.”

Fellow co-writer Rhett Reese added that “Marvel’s a rich universe of both heroes and also, wonderfully, villains, so we would love to see Deadpool enter that universe in a fun way.”

With both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 being massive hits in the box office, a third Deadpool movie is ultimately inevitable. It is just a matter of when (probably Phase 5 or 6 of the MCU), and how (in an R-rated movie, hopefully).

“We’re just waiting for the word from on high,” says Wernick. “There’s a lot to be sorted out, like how Deadpool fits into the Marvel Universe with the other characters and into the release schedule of the MCU. Then it’s, do the X-Men get in there at some point? Fantastic Four? There’s a lot to be sorted out and I think we’re all getting a much-needed rest from Deadpool — Ryan and us and everybody.”

Regardless, fans are all eager to see what the third instalment for Deadpool will bring and we can only patiently wait for more news from Kevin Feige or Reynolds himself.
