Capcom has shadow-dropped its new DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, and while it isn’t the Mercenaries Mode many fans were hoping for, it will still let players mow down waves of zombies as everyone’s favourite super agent, Leon Kennedy, in Leon Must Die Forever, a challenge mode that pits him against replayable arcade-style stages with Roguelike elements.
Available once players complete the main campaign, this new mode pits Leon against increasingly difficult timed levels, similar to the Ethan Must Die DLC seen in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. This time, however, the challenge mode will feature a pseudo-Roguelike element, with Leon having access to a choice of enhancements as he defeats enemies, which can boost his abilities, like increasing his firepower or hatchet durability, with every death meaning starting from scratch.
Leon Must Die Forever will also feature stronger enemy variants and five increasingly difficult ranks, including an extreme high-difficulty mode only for the most confident of players. Each “run” will also change up the order and progression of areas seen in the main campaign, adding to its replayability.
Apart from the new mini-game, Resident Evil Requiem has also received further updates, such as bug fixes across platforms, as well as PC support for the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion sensor features, something that PC fans are sure to appreciate, considering recent titles like Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake didn’t receive such support.

Leon Must Die Forever is now available as a free update for Resident Evil Requiem, and will be playable across the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
