The Straw Hat Pirates are getting a makeover, and they will soon drop anchor at their new homeport. Netflix has announced that the One Piece remake by Wit Studio, the powerhouse behind Spy x Family and Attack on Titan‘s first three seasons, is set to air in February 2027, with Season 1 comprising seven episodes.

Titled The One Piece, the new series will cover the first 50 chapters of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, up until Luffy’s encounter with Sanji. The total runtime clocks in at about 300 minutes, translating to over 40 minutes per episode — nearly twice the original anime (and the standard for the genre).
As previously reported, Attack on Titan director Masashi Koizuka is helming the project, with Hideaki Abe (Jujutsu Kaisen) serving as assistant director. Kyoji Asano (Spy x Family) and Takatoshi Honda (The First Slam Dunk) handle the character designs, while Taku Kishimoto (Ranking of Kings) steps in as series composer.
The official description reads, “Separate from the TV anime series that has charged full speed ahead over the course of more than 25 years, this series taps into the expressive potential of modern technology to offer a familiar yet fresh take on the adventures of Luffy. The rare footage of character design sheets and image boards showcased in this video provides a glimpse into the world of this new anime.
A brand-new visual for The One Piece was also unveiled, showing child Luffy fist-pumping in the bar in Windmill Village, where he regularly convinces Shanks to bring him along on his swashbuckling adventures:
The release date update comes after Netflix shared concept art for the characters and image boards for major scenes in the original anime, alongside a host of other franchise-related news, including a Season 3 renewal for its live-action adaptation and a special Lego animation project that lands on the streamer on 29 September.
The One Piece sets sail in February 2027, with all seven episodes released at once.
