With the Neon Genesis Evangelion theme running strong this year, it almost seems like fans are being compensated for the delayed screening of the highly-anticipated movie Genesis Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0. Now, enthusiasts can adorn their home with a giant statue of the Eva-01 mech at the hefty, hefty price of US$14,700 (around S$20,400).
Standing tall at a staggering 6.5 feet (198cm), the limited-edition statue is created by famed figure sculpture Shinobu Matsumura, and can be ordered online. It’s an extremely solid build, too, tipping the scales at 143 pounds (64.8kg) with every part UV-coated to prevent colour fading.
Not everyone will get to own this heck of a chonky statue, however. During its very first unveiling at Wonder Fes in Japan earlier this year, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe, and the US were stated as the only available platforms. It’s unknown if the list has been updated since then, but there’s no need to fret – there’s plenty of Evangelion-inspired products to go around, such as a Nescafé coffee machine, Santa FX’s eye drops, themed razer blades from Shick Japan, and Japan audio brand Final’s wireless earbuds. Wait a while longer, and you can even get to buckle up in a giant mech statue in Japan.
