Blokees has proven a strong contender in the model kit scene over the years, and the Chinese company has done it yet again, this time featuring the iconic mech from the 1995 anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion, with the EVA-01 Action Edition.
Built in a scale that rivals Bandai’s Real Grade (RG) Evangelion UNIT-01, the EVA-01 Action Edition offers a substantially larger package compared to Blokee’s usual line-up of buildable figures like its Heroic and Galaxy Defenders series of Transformers model kits. The figure features the same complex level of articulation that the company is known for, alongside a host of accessories, from interchangeable weapons to the EVA lift and even display pieces moulded like damaged buildings for a more cinematic touch.
The set consists of 10 runners and 83 additional pieces, such as joints, different sets of hands or parts for its included action stand. The building process is a breeze and doesn’t require the use of a cutter to detach pieces from the runner, although using one does help ensure a cleaner look. There are no stickers either, as all the parts are printed in their respective colours, removing the need for extra busywork. Check out our detailed unboxing and build process in the video above.
The Blokees EVA-01 Action Edition is now available via online retailers at prices starting from US$24.90.
