In case you absolutely needed to know, yes, you’ll be able to port over your save file of God of War from the PlayStation 4 to the upcoming PlayStation 5.
This feature is confirmed on the official Santa Monica Studio Twitter account. But that’s not the only Kratos-centric game that will get the smooth transition, as PS4 save files for God of War III Remastered will also be transferable to the PS5.
The ability to port PS4 saves over to the PS5 mirrors that of Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, though the same can’t be said for the base Spider-Man game as the remaster is treated as an entirely new title.
Additionally, God of War will run at a crisp 60fps on the PS5 by selecting the “Favor Performance” video option when booting up the game. We imagine gamers will be licking their lips at the prospect of smashing Valkyrie skulls in at 60fps.
While not a game-breaking update, this will no doubt incense God of War fans to step into Kratos’ shoes once again on the PS5 — at least until the sequel, Ragnarok, comes out in 2021.
