Santa Monica Studio’s ‘God of War Laufey’ Spin-Off Opens Pre-Orders, Unveils Faye’s New Serpent Bow

Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming spin-off God of War Laufey has opened pre-orders for the game ahead of its release on 16 February 2027, while also dropping a first look at Faye’s new ranged weapon, the Serpent Bow.

Outlined via the game’s newest post on the PlayStation Blog, the Serpent Bow is an enchanted weapon that takes the form of a snake, as its name suggests, and is able to deal quick bursts of damage at in both close-quarters and at range.

By holding down the left trigger, players will be able to enter precision aim mode, where they can either fire individual shots or charge up the bow and stack up to five arrows for a powerful volley. Faye can also target specific points on an enemy’s body, landing a precise strike to impair their movement and open them up to a follow-up melee hit.

Utilising the PS5 DualSense Controller’s adaptive triggers, players can also half-press the left trigger to enter a more mobile hip-fire stance, from which they can fire off clusters of arrows to deal damage at close range. This quick-fire style allows them to juggle airborne enemies or extend melee combos. In addition to these two fire modes, the Serpent Bow can also be equipped with different arrow types like rapid fire or explosive shots, making it a versatile tool that can be customised to suit each combat encounter.

The blog post also teased some of God of War Laufey’s progression systems, including customisable blades and Catalysts, powerful artefacts capable of channelling the potent magic of the Everywhen. The Serpent Bow will also be customisable, featuring unlockable skills to expand its capabilities, and different equippable Scales, which will change not just its look, but also the type of playstyle it specialises in via a unique perk.

God of War Laufey is now available for pre-orders and will launch on 16 February 2027 exclusively on the PS5.
