Sony has revealed the Collector Box for Santa Monica Studios’ upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, God of War Laufey, and just like what Rockstar Games did for the collector’s edition of Grand Theft Auto VI, this set will also not include the game itself.
Unveiled via an update on the PlayStation Blog, the God of War Laufey – Collector Box will be priced at US$149.99 and will include a statue, an artbook, and a set of cards, but not the actual PS5 game itself. Of course, many people will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Grand Theft Auto VI, but at least Laufey’s collector’s edition is much more reasonably priced and comes with a proper game statue with light-up features, unlike Rockstar’s egregious US$400 collector’s set that features mostly branded cosmetic goods and small accessories.
Here are more details on the contents included in the God of War Laufey – Collector Box:
- Light-Up Faye Statue: An eight-inch-tall statue featuring Faye, Phranque, and Rue fighting against Begtse’s soldiers. Phranque will light up when the statue is plugged into a USB power source.
- 51-Card Oracle Deck: Featuring custom illustrations for each card by the talented Megan Lara, the Oracle Deck is a beautiful representation of your adventure through the Everywhen.
- Physical Mini Artbook: Concept art depicting the characters, creatures, and environments of God of War Laufey, hand-selected by the talented art team at Santa Monica Studio.
The Collector Box also marks the first collector’s edition in the God of War franchise to not include the actual game, although it does slightly make up for it by featuring its first statue with a light-up feature (the collector’s edition for 2018’s God of War featured a statue of Kratos and Atreus, while Ragnarok’s had a 16-inch replica of Thor’s hammer). To this end, it seems the collector’s edition is designed as an add-on for those who had already pre-purchased or are planning to buy the game.
The God of War Laufey – Collector Box will be available in “highly limited quantities” directly from the PlayStation Store starting 16 February 2027, with pre-orders now open.
