Fat Thor And Silver Surfer Won’t Appear In Thor: Love and Thunder

While we’ll be getting tons of fanservice in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, with the likes of Natalie Portman returning as Female Thor, and the Guardians of the Galaxy making a guest appearance, director Taika Waititi has pointed out that we can’t have all our cakes, and eat them.

Recently, the New Zealander cast some doubt on the return of Fat Thor in the upcoming movie in an Instagram Live Q&A, saying “We haven’t figured that out, but I feel like that’s done”.

Of course, many would remember that the God of Thunder, played by Chris Hemsworth, took on a more rotund appearance back in Avengers: Endgame. Despite Thor ending the movie still in his plus size, it looks more likely that the Odinson will shed the extra weight by the time Love and Thunder begins, based on Waititi’s response.

Waititi also went on another Instagram Live Q&A last week, after a viewing party for Thor: Ragnarok. This time, he ruled out any possible appearance of another high-profile cosmic Marvel hero, Silver Surfer, in Love and Thunder. However, he did confirm that Starsharks, or space sharks in lay man’s terms, will appear in the movie.

Despite Christian Bale having been cast as the film’s main villain, Waititi was also tight-lipped about his exact role.

For now, the wait for Thor: Love and Thunder will be quite a painful one, given how Disney pushed back the original 5 November 2021 release date to 18 February 2022 in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
