Colin Farrell Officially Joins The Batman As Villain Penguin

On his Twitter, The Batman director Matt Reeves has seemingly confirmed that Colin Farrell will be playing The Penguin in his upcoming film starring Robert Pattinson as the titular Batman.

Reeves tweeted a gif of Farrell from the 2008 movie In Bruges with the caption “Wait — Is that you, #Oz?”

Though there was no mention of Penguin, Oz can be read as a short form of Oswald and as fans of Batman will know, Penguin’s real name happens to be Oswald Cobblepot.

It was reported in November last year that Farrell was in talks with Warner Bro. to play Penguin, and Reeves recent tweets have seemingly confirmed the news.

Farrell will be joining the likes of Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone in Reeve’s upcoming film.

As revealed by Wright in a tweet on January 5, production for The Batman has already begun and the film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021
