In case you’ve been living under a rock or need a quick reminder: Mortal Kombat is getting a reboot in 2021.
Not much has been revealed about the anticipated movie and fans have been dying to know who is being cast to play some of their favourite characters. We have heard you, O fan. Let us throw you a lifeline and answer some of your queries.
Here are the cast of Mortal Kombat!
Ludi Lin is Liu Kang
Mehcad Brooks is Jax
Tadanobu Asano is Raiden
Sisi Stringer is Mileena
Joe Taslim is Sub-Zero
Hiroyuki Sanada is Scorpion
Chin Han is Shang Tsung
Elissa Cadwell is Nitara
Jessica McNamee is Sonya Blade
John Lawson is Kano
Lewis Tan is an undisclosed character
Tan’s been tight-lipped as to who he is playing but posted a rather emotional and lengthy post on Instagram.
In the post, he thanked director Simon McQuoid, spoke about the beauty of Australia, called fellow cast members his family and shared a heartful story about his inspiration – his 15-year-old niece.
Tan previously turned down 3 films and 2 TV shows only to be rejected for a huge film until this lead role in Mortal Kombat showed up and changed his life.
Cladded in a black singlet and sweatpants, Tan’s pictures provided no hints whatsoever but when we think of a badass lead character that impacts the Mortal Kombat storyline greatly, we immediately think of Johnny Cage. Could it be? Well, who knows?
Mortal Kombat is rated “R” which means fans would certainly get to see a live adaptation of the beloved iconic Fatalities. Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release on March 5, 2021.
