Christopher Abbott To Play Villain, The Foreigner, In Sony’s ‘Kraven the Hunter’

The main villain to Sony’s upcoming Marvel movie Kraven the Hunter has finally been announced. Christopher Abbott will be paying The Foreigner in the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led film.

Abbott joins a cast that includes Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Russell Crowe, Alessandro Nivola and Fred Hechinger as Chameleon. Nivola would be playing an unknown villain as well so like so many Marvel films, the main character will battle multiple adversaries.

The Foreigner played a major part in the Spider-Man comics. Although he has no superhuman abilities, the mercenary/assassin is one of the more trained martial artists in all of Marvel comics. The villain would often cross paths with Spider-Man, Chameleon and other characters. Rarely does he have run-ins with Kraven, so Abbott’s appearance may just be the start of something new.

Abbott is best known for his breakout role in George Clooney’s adaptation of Catch-22. Abbott earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in Limited Series. He was also recently seen in On the Count of Three and will soon appear in Apple TV+’s anthology series The Crowded Room.

Kraven the Hunter will be directed by J.C. Chandor, with a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. It is scheduled to release in theaters on 13 January 2023.
