‘Chainsaw Man’ Gets Updated Anime Visual, Teases New Promo Video For 5 August

There’s plenty laying in wait for Chainsaw Man fans when the anime drops sometime this Summer, with its debut trailer and a subsequent reel promising a generous helping of psychological horror elements, action, and gore. It seems animation studio MAPPA (Jujutsu KaisenAttack on Titan The Final Season) has honored its word, unveiling a new anime visual that showcases the series’ signature blood fest in all its splendour.

Announced on Twitter, the image features a blood-drenched Denji standing on top of some debris, as blood continues to rain from the sky and drip down his chainsaw-wielding arms. It rocks a pretty good look, and should hype fans up for the upcoming promotional video drop on 5 August, which will offer more details on the story and the main cast.

The Chainsaw Man anime follows Denji, who gains the power to become a chainsaw devil from his dog-like companion, Pochita, after a near-death experience. Adapted from the original manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which has recently started on its second part, it’s set to premiere sometime this year in over 200 countries and territories around the world. The synopsis by Crunchyroll reads:

“Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita. One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as ‘Chainsaw Man’— a man with a devil’s heart.
