New Chainsaw Man Trailer Is Strangely Terrifying And It’s Perfect For Fans

Chainsaw Man is a stylised, balls-to-the-wall action-comedy-horror series that doesn’t shy away from gore. Written and illustration by Tatsuki Fujimoto, and animated by animation studio MAPPA, the anime adaptation seems primed to awe anime fans.

Given MAPPA’s track record with Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen, the series is in good hands here. This new trailer for Chainsaw Man features trippy visual effects done to the manga’s panels with unsettling music playing in the background. It hints at certain psychological horror elements which, for fans who have read the manga, makes for a truly fitting tone for the series.

The story follows Denji, who gains the power to become a chainsaw devil from his dog-like companion, Pochita, after a near-death experience. Then, Denji takes on the task of hunting down other devils as the human pet of Makima. The premise sounds simple with a dose of the absurd, but the entire story is more than meets the eye, an enigma wrapped in an ultraviolent fantasy box. It is energetic, wild, and utterly insane, and anime fans won’t want to miss this.

The anime is set to premiere in 2022, though the exact date is yet to be announced.
