We don’t often bring up the DCGreen Lantern movie. Even Ryan Reynolds, the actor who portrayed the hero wouldn’t speak a word of it and we can see why. The Green Lantern movie was an embarrassing film and like the 2017 Justice League, it was not well-received by fans.
Amongst all the saving (and salvaging) Zack Snyder had to do in making Zack Snyder’s Justice League the superhero spectacle fans have been yearning for, we understand that a certain somebody will be making a cameo in addition to Martian Manhunter and Joker.
Industry murmurs have hinted that the highly-anticipated film will reveal a Green Lantern – and no it’s not Hal Jordan. Rumour has it the cameo will be the alien Kilowog.
Kilowog is an alien with a brutish cross of porcine and bulldog-like appearance. He is renowned throughout the Green Lantern Corps as the primary trainer of the Corps’ newest recruits. Kilowog first appeared in the Green Lantern Corps comics and later in the live-action Green Lantern movie. He’s also appeared in numerous animated tv series such as Justice League, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and more.
An alien Green Lantern may stir up excitement for a Green Lantern Corps-focused movie amongst fans, though that’s still up to Warner Bros to decide – not Snyder. Currently, a Green Lantern HBO Max series has been ordered that will feature Kilowog, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Alan Scott and Sinestro
That said, time will tell if Zack Snyder’s Justice League will bring Kilowog back to the screens in a bigger and better manner. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that these rumours are true.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League streams on HBO Max and HBO GO on 18 March 2021.
