The Mandalorian Beats Stranger Things And Westworld In Streaming Demand

The Mandalorian is Disney+’s newest live-action Star Wars series. The show debuted on 17 November, 2019 – the same day as Disney+’s launch. Admittedly, not much buzz was generated around the initial premiere of the new TV show but the new show still managed to exceed the expectations of Star Wars fans and non-fans.

The Mandalorian is by far the most in-demand new original streaming series of the year. According to Parrot Analytics reports, The Mandalorian received over 100 million demand expressions during the week of November 17 to November 23 whereas Stranger Things had 81 million. This surpasses Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy and When They See Us and HBO’s Westworld.

While many fans were upset to learn that they can’t binge-watch the show, it seems to work in the show’s favour. Majority of fans are watching each episode more than once to come up or debunk theories. Fans also can’t help but rewatch the episode to take screengrabs of Baby Yoda and turning them into little memes. The undeniably cute Baby Yoda has amassed a large following with Disney producing merchandise for the holidays.

We’re excited to see just how big The Mandalorian can get in the future and are keen to see how The Rise of Skywalker would do in theatres.

The next episode of The Mandalorian is premiering November 29, 2019. To find out when other episodes are premiering, take a look at our schedule. If Disney+ isn’t available in your country, we got you – try out this VPN. Happy watching!
