Taskmaster Promo Images Leaked For Marvel’s Black Widow

The upcoming Black Widow solo movie by Marvel Studios hearkens the beginning of a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At D23 Expo 2019, we’d managed to get a glimpse of Scarlett Johansson’s new outfit as the late Natasha Romanoff. This time, however, we get to learn a little more about her main adversary, the ex-S.H.I.E.L.D agent known as Taskmaster.

The above image was a leaked promotional photo, alongside other promotional images of Black Widow in her black suit, thanks to @BRMarvelNews. While mired by watermarks, we get a good glimpse of the MCU’s newest villain.

Taskmaster’s getup still retains the traditional blue-orange-white colours as seen in the comics, as well as retaining the iconic “T” on his shield. But Marvel Studios’ modern take on the villain sees a host of new changes. For starters, Taskmaster’s iconic skull mask is ditched, in favour of what looks like a gas mask with ski goggles.

Whether it looks good or not is up to you, but the online community has certainly aired their divided opinions on the matter.

If you’re not a fan of Taskmaster’s look in Black Widow, it may be because you’ve seen other, more faithful adaptations of the ability-mimicking fiend in other media. Namely, his rendition in Sony’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming Marvel’s Avengers.

Regardless, this is your new Taskmaster, and he’s here to stay.

No word has yet been revealed as to which actor will be under the hood yet, though. Whoever that is, they will be joining a rather strong lineup alongside ScarJo, including the likes of David Harbour as Red Guardian, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.

Black Widow opens in theatres on May 1, 2020.
