Star Wars ‘Andor’ Disney+ Series Gets Thrilling First Trailer And Season 2

The heroes of the rebellion are back in the first trailer for the new Star Wars series Andor.

The upcoming Disney+ show stars Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as he and his compatriots take on the Galactic Empire in covert operations for the Rebel Alliance.

As seen in the trailer, Andor takes place sometime between the fall of the Republic and Rogue One and gives viewers a more day-to-day look at the Rebellion.

The show also seems to focus mainly on the titular character Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) and the other rebels who are part of the operations against the Empire. Playing an antagonist is Stellan Skarsgård, who takes on the role of a Rebel leader.

The series is set to explore to the origin of the Rebel pilot and serve as a prequel to the movie. And if you thought the teaser trailer was all Lucasfilm has got for fans, think again.

Hot on the heels of the trailer release, Lucasfilm officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2022 that the series has been confirmed for season two. The second season will contain another 12 episodes of the rebel pilot’s story, giving the prequel 24 episodes of story overall.

Andor season two will begin filming this fall and whilst story details are not confirmed since season one isn’t even out yet, it will likely follow the four years of his life leading up to Rogue One.

Other Star Wars news include a release window for Season 3 of The Mandalorian and the Ahsoka spin-off, as well as the official unveiling of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. A Willow sequel announcement also made a surprise appearance alongside Indiana Jones 5.

Andor starts streaming on 31 August on Disney+.
