In what seems to be an exciting turn of developments as we approach the climax of Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2023, sex toy brand Tenga has been unveiled as one of the exhibitors at the event, and boy do people have thoughts about this.
On the other hand, what’s wrong with having a presence at the show? For anyone who has been to Akihabara in Tokyo, such sights by Tenga and related paraphernalia are a common sight. In fact, depending on how one arrives at Akihabara, the Tenga store might be one of the first shops that folks would set their sights on as it’s strategically located at the street corner. It’s different strokes for different folks we reckon and do our anime fans deserve such protection?
As far as we know, the Tenga setup looks to be a restricted booth. And, only visitors above the age of 21 years of age will be able to enter, which means the level of discourse on this intercourse won’t be as public.
The activity within the booth would be a dice game challenge and participants stand to win prizes from Tenga and Iroha. We’re guessing there’s definitely more to the booth than a hands-free demo. And no, don’t expect a hands-on or hand in hand demo either. Tenga has taken its shot at this year’s anime event but should it pull out to escape criticism?
Tenga’s involvement in the anime community is anything but new.
In the past, the brand has worked to create a Mazinger toy for the masses which now commands a small premium online. And we’re going to just add that ladies, these do make for an awesome gift for your guy friends, especially for the year-end holiday season.
A peek at the AFA Instagram comments section reveals a split community over the announcement with some for the participation and some against.
Among all the social posts put out by AFA so far, this announcement by Tenga has generated the most comments. For anyone involved in the cosplay community in Singapore, there has been a long list of memorable occurrences and Tenga’s inclusion could mean bigger and better next year if we’re not such prudes..
As far as we know, the general consensus in the comment section has come to the agreement that making it through November will be hard for some to pull off.
