Big news has dropped in the latest announcement of the Solo Leveling anime, namely the revelation of two big-name artistes, Sawano Hiroyuki and South Korean boy band TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), collaborating for the series’ opening theme song, alongside the release of dates for the world premiere of the first two episodes.
The opening song “LEveL” is composed by Sawano under SawanoHiroyuki[nZk], working together with TXT who has been featured as guest vocals for the song. Sawano has composed hundreds of opening and ending songs along with musical scores for several series, more notably Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Attack on Titan and The Seven Deadly Sins. TXT is also no stranger to anime openings, having previously done World Trigger – Second Season’s opening song and Black Clover’s 12th opening.
Sawano stated that “LEveL” was composed with the charms of TXT as an artist, expanding on the song’s groove and sound with the various vocal approaches of the boy band group. The former also expressed that he is looking forward to the anime as a viewer. Additionally, TXT mentions the song was composed with an addictive beat and a dark and heavy atmosphere, expressing the growing strength of the main character, and hopes viewers will enjoy listening to the song and watching the anime.
While the Solo Leveling anime is officially slated to start airing in January 2024, Tokyo, Seoul and Los Angeles will host premiere screenings this December. Tokyo and Seoul share the same premiere date of 10 December 2023, while the premiere in Los Angeles airs on 14 December 2023.
