The Scream franchise is gearing up for its next chilling chapter, Scream 7, set to bring back Neve Campbell as the iconic Sidney Prescott. This time, the story introduces a new family dynamic, with Isabel May cast as Sidney’s grown daughter, as confirmed by Variety. May, known for her standout roles in the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923, takes on her first major blockbuster role in the upcoming slasher sequel.
The seventh installment in the franchise will explore the Prescott family more deeply, building on Sidney’s last appearance in Scream (2022), where she was shown as a new mother. Now, with her child grown, Sidney is poised to return to the center of the action, facing off once again against Ghostface.
Director Kevin Williamson, the creative force behind the original Scream and several sequels, will helm the project, with Guy Busick (Scream 2022, Scream VI) penning the script. The duo aims to deliver a story that lives up to fan expectations, with Campbell herself praising the plot as the key reason for her return.
Talks are also underway for other familiar faces to return. Patrick Dempsey, who played Sidney’s husband, Mark Kincaid, in earlier films, hinted at his possible involvement, saying, “There has been a conversation about it. I haven’t seen anything yet. So, we’ll see what happens.” Courteney Cox, a franchise veteran as Gale Weathers, has also expressed interest in reprising her role, though her return has yet to be confirmed.
The franchise’s direction has shifted following the controversial exits of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who led the previous two films. With their departures, the focus has shifted back to the Prescott family, solidifying Campbell’s return as the emotional core of the story.
With Neve Campbell leading alongside Isabel May, and Kevin Williamson returning to direct, fans can anticipate a fresh yet nostalgic addition to the Scream saga. Scream 7 will open in cinemas on 27 February 2026.
