Geek Culture’s ‘Scream 7’ Premiere Screening Brings Slasher Thrills To 150 Fans

30 years may have passed, but some ghosts from the past cannot be outrun. Nobody in the Scream franchise knows that better than Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell in the 1996 original, who has been the target of different Ghostface iterations over the years, including the latest instalment.

And while Scream 7 continues to haunt her, it marks a nostalgic homecoming for longtime fans, as David Arquette and Courteney Cox also returned to complete the legacy trio alongside Campbell. Helmed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the script for the first two films, as well as Scream 4, the sequel follows a new Ghostface killer who targets Sidney’s daughter in the quiet neighbourhood of Woodsboro.

The excitement was palpable even before the start of an exclusive Geek Culture screening held at Golden Village Bugis+, in collaboration with UIP Singapore, on 2 March. As multiple Ghostfaces roamed the premises in search of their next victim, the more enthusiastic cosplayers put up a show for added flair, with the 150-strong crowd receiving a special postcard that reads, “Welcome to Woodsboro, where the past never dies!” Sounds about right.

Joining the returning cast and audience on a fright-filled trip are various new faces, including Michelle Randolph, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, McKenna Grace, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Jimmy Tatro, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann and Sam Rechner. Not that the identity matters — when fear hits home, both fresh and old blood won’t be spared.

Now, it’s time to stop the carnage (and curse) once and for all.
