It’s been a tradition for a while now, and like clockwork, Samsung has lifted the curtain on the latest addition to its family of flagship smartphones. The first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 saw the Samsung Galaxy S25 series taking centrestage, promising hardware and camera improvements, a slimmer build, upgraded AI capabilities, and a heavier focus on user personalisation.
“As more users embrace AI for their everyday tasks, we want the Galaxy S25 Series to set the standards of what AI smartphones can truly do. With an AI-integrated OS, along with enhanced Galaxy AI features, we are confident that the new Galaxy S25 Series will drive the shift in mobile AI adoption in 2025, especially as Singapore gears up be an AI nation,” said Ronnie Ng, Vice President, Head of Mobile eXperience, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

As expected, the refreshed lineup comprises the base model and its slightly more powerful sibling, the Galaxy S25+, alongside the top-of-the-line Ultra iteration. All three devices now tout the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, putting them on par with the competition, including gaming outfits like the ROG Phone 9 Pro. The Snapdragon 8 Elite delivers a performance boost of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU and 30% in GPU compared to the previous generation.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in 4 colours: Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Whitesilver, Titanium Black and Titanium Gray along with 3 capacity configurations: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. The Galaxy S25+ and S25 come in 4 colours: Icyblue, Navy, Mint and Silver Shadow along with 2 capacity configurations: 256GB and 512GB.

Physically, there are some slight design tweaks that distingush them from their predecessors. The edges are more rounded, particularly for the Ultra, and each build is lighter and slimmer than before. According to the tech giant, they weigh, in ascending order, 162 grams (S25), 190 grams (S25+), and 218 grams (S25 Ultra) – down from 167 grams, 196 grams, and 232 grams, respectively – though a small difference on paper, the difference can be felt in hand. Battery-wise, the S25 Ultra comes with a 5,000 mAh battery while the S25+ is at 4,900 mAh and the S25 is at 4,000 mAh.

As observed during a preview event held in Singapore and San Jose, the reduced heft offers a more natural and comfortable grip, which is always a bonus for individuals with smaller hands. Users can also expect less strain or fatigue while using their handset in landscape orientation, proving handy for mobile gaming, watching shows, videography, and the like.
Display specifications, as far as upgrades go, remain largely the same as before. The Galaxy S25 series touts a dynamic AMOLED 2X display at a refresh rate of 120Hz, translating to the usual blend of sharp clarity, fine detail, rich colours, and deep blacks. Like before, the Ultra is the big brother, measuring 6.9 inches (QHD+) against the 6.7 inches (QHD+) and 6.2 inches (FHD+) on both the S25 and S25+ models. Thinner bezels are also a thing, allowing for improved immersion across the trio of devices.
There aren’t many camera enhancements, either. Samsung has retained the familiar triple rear camera setup, except the ultrawide for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is now bumped up to 50 megapixels (MP), up from 12MP. Users can look forward to using the new 50MP ultrawide lens for macro photography, which attains four times more detail than before. The main and telephoto snappers come in respectively at 200MP, 50MP (5x optical zoom) and 10MP (3x optical zoom), with the selfie camera inheriting its previous 12MP configuration. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also features durable titanium and the new Corning Gorilla Armor 2, a first-of-its-kind material that is more durable than glass.

This time, the showstopper takes the form of the new One UI 7 operating system (OS). Building on its existing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, the Galaxy S25 series come fully integrated with Google Gemini, the tech giant’s AI assistant. First added to the S24 lineup, it offers access to Google-powered tools like Circle to Search, now boasting the Shazam-like ability to look up music or songs, Live Translate, and more. Additionally, Audio Eraser is a new tool that simplifies the removal of unwanted noise in videos by isolating sounds such as voices, music, wind, nature, crowd and noise. The Portrait Studio has also been enhanced to allow users to created personlised and stylised avatars faster than ever, and on-device.
And if the selection of colours aren’t enough, there’s even more with several online-only colours sold exclusively on Samsung’s website. The S25 and S25+ will come in three additional colours: Blueblack, Coralred and Pinkgold while the S25 Ultra will come in three additional colours: Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Jadegreen.

All Galaxy S25 devices will come with 6 months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost. Gemini Advanced comes with Samsung’s most capable AI models and priority access to the newest features like Gems, custom AI experts for any topic, and Deep Research.
