Bass X Machina

Hailing from Yasuke creator LeSean Thomas and Studio Mir, the animation studio behind Devil May Cry and The Legend of Korra, Bass X Machina is a stylised steampunk adventure set in the West. The story follows Bass Reeves, voiced by Into the Spider-Verse star Brian Tyree Henry, a gunslinging bounty hunter on a justice streak to protect his family from outlaws, automatons, and supernatural entities, while spilling plenty of blood along the way.

It premieres on 3 November, with Janelle Monáe, who also performs the opening theme song, Tati Gabrielle, and Cree Summer rounding out the cast.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2

Mizu is back, and she means business. After dropping an extended first look earlier in June, Netflix has firmed up the release date for Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2, which will continue her vengeance quest in London, where she encounters new friends, old foes, and her own demon. “I choose revenge,” says Mizu in the new trailer, before the tip of a sword is pointed at her throat.

The sophomore outing returns in January 2027 and will be followed by a third and final season in 2028.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Good morning, Night City — or not, as the four main characters of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are not having a great time at all. Featuring a standalone story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the 10-episode series looks to inherit the tragedy and bloodshed that characterised its predecessor, told through Roman Carax (Valeria Rodriguez), a young cinephile documenting the horrors in Night City from his camcorder.

Additional cast includes Clancy Brown as the edgerunner Weak Kingsley; Nazeeh Tarsah as D, a netrunner; and Kimoy Lee as Talia, a Corpo who works with the Maelstrom gang. The sequel is set to bow on 20 October.

Fool Night

An anime adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda’s manga, Fool Night introduces a world plunged into eternal darkness, where transfloration — a cutting-edge operation that transforms human beings into plants — is the only way to survive the oxygen deprivation brought on by the loss of plant life. For Toshiro Kamiya, voiced by Koki Uchiyama in the Japanese dub, the procedure puts him and his best friend, Yomiko Horai (Minako Kotobuki), at the centre of danger.

The dystopian series, jointly animated by Sunrise and Shaft, debuts on 26 November.

Lego One Piece

Turning the beloved Straw Hat Pirates into bricks, Lego One Piece serves as a recap of the events from the Netflix live-action series adaptation thus far, told by Usopp to Chopper. The cast of Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, Charithra Chandran, Mikaela Hoover, and Jeff Ward all reprise their respective roles here, which is produced in partnership with Lego Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha, and animation studio Atomic Cartoon.

The two-part animated special releases on 29 September.

Sakamoto Days Season 2

Bring on the action! Season 2 of Sakamoto Days will mark the return of everyone’s favourite retired hitman, Taro Sakamoto, and company, as they attempt to uncover intel on Slur, only for three new threats to stand in their way: Amane, Etsuko Satoda, and Yotsumura. They are no small fries, either, with each showing off some serious chops.

The series hits the small screen in January 2027.

The One Piece

With a new dawn comes a new adventure. While there wasn’t a trailer for The One Piece, Wit Studio’s remake of the anime that was first announced in 2023, the latest key art pays homage to creator Eiichiro Oda’s very first cover art. As previously reported, the first season will adapt the first chapters of the manga and is separate from both Toei Animation’s 1,167-episode-long run and Netflix’s live-action TV adaptation.

When the series sets sail in February 2027, fans can look forward to the return of Mayumi Tanaka as the Japanese dub for Luffy, who has voiced the character since the first episode.
