Peter Sarsgaard’s Role In The Batman Revealed And It Is Not Two-Face

The full cast list for Matt Reeves’ The Batman has just been announced and we finally have a name for who Peter Sarsgaard will be playing and we are sorry to disappoint but it will not be Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.

In its official announcement, Warner Bros. laid out the main casts of the movie as well as who they will be playing, this includes Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman and most interestingly Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham District Attorney (D.A) Gil Colson. As far as we know Gil Colson is a name that has not appeared in the long-running DC franchise.

Of course, this could just be a cover-up by Warner Bros. to throw fans off the scent that he really is playing Harvey Dent but that seems unlikely. After all, with everything that has been reported on the movie thus far, such as Colin Farrell starring as The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred, there doesn’t seem to be any point in them hiding the fact that Harvey Dent will be in the movie.

A more plausible theory could be that Gil Colson is simply another name given to the Two-Face character, much like Arthur Fleck with the Joker. This gives the producers more room to explore the character of Two-Face without the baggage of being ‘Harvey Dent’.

Or Colson could be a completely new character created by Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin who will come with his own set of conflicts to bring to the table. With The Batman set in Bruce Wayne’s early years in crime-fighting, Gil Colson could even be the prosecutor who comes before Harvey Dent. If something were to happen to Colson in the film, it will provide the right platform for Dent to step up as the next D.A for Gotham City.

The Batman will be swooping into theatres on 25 June 2021.
